Southern Pimento Cheese

The “caviar of the South,” Southern Pimento Cheese is one of those appetizers no one can stop eating. Creamy, tangy, sharp, and of course cheesy, Southern Pimento Cheese is packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice. Easy to make and a flash to whip up, this is perfect for spreading on crackers, toast, vegetables, or cured meats. Do you even need a meal after making this?


• 2 cups extra-sharp cheddar cheese, shredded • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened • 1/2 cup mayonnaise • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced • 1 (4 ounce) jar diced pimento peppers, drained • salt, to taste • black pepper, to taste


Step 1

Place the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, minced jalapeno, and pimento into the large bowl of a mixer.

Step 2

Beat at medium speed, with a paddle if possible, until thoroughly combined.

Step 3

Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
