Smothered Cheesy Sour Cream Chicken

Smothered Cheesy Sour Cream Chicken is more like "stick to the table until every bite is gone." You'll love it so much you may not even have room for dessert! Smothered Cheesy Sour Cream Chicken takes a little patience to make, but the effort is more than worth it!


• 1/8 teaspoon olive oil • 1 cup sour cream • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/2 teaspoon pepper • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried • 1 teaspoon basil, dried • 1 teaspoon garlic powder • 1 tablespoon cornstarch • 3/4 cup parmesan, grated and divided • 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless • 4 slices mozzarella • parsley, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish • rice, optional, cooked, to taste, for serving


Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2

Coat a rectangular baking dish with the olive oil.

Step 3

In a medium bowl combine the sour cream, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, garlic powder, cornstarch, and 1/2 cup of the parmesan cheese. Set the mixture aside.

Step 4

Place the chicken breasts into the prepared baking dish.

Step 5

Top each chicken with a slice of the mozzarella.

Step 6

Smother the chicken with the sour cream mixture.

Step 7

Top the chicken with the remaining 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese.

Step 8

Cook until the chicken registers 165 degrees F with a meat thermometer, about 1 hour.

Step 9

Garnish with the chopped parsley and serve over the rice.
