There’s of course salt, pepper, and garlic powder, but there are a few unexpected additions in Copycat Texas Roadhouse® Steak Rub like brown sugar and turmeric. All of the spices combine to create a complex flavor and satisfying sear on the grill.
Ingredients• 8 teaspoons coarse kosher salt • 8 teaspoons brown sugar • 1 teaspoon cornstarch • 2 teaspoons garlic powder • 1 teaspoon onion powder • 1 teaspoon turmeric • 2 teaspoons paprika • 2 teaspoons chili powder • 4 teaspoons black pepper • steak(s), as many and of the cuts to your taste
Combine the kosher salt, brown sugar, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, paprika, chili powder, and black pepper in a quart-sized resealable bag and seal it tightly.
Shake the bag to thoroughly combine all ingredients.
Generously cover each side of the steak(s) with the seasoning and let it rest for about 40 minutes.
Preheat the grill to medium-high
Once the grill is hot, place the steak(s) on it and cook until browned and slightly charred, about 4-5 minutes.
Flip over and cook to your liking.
Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes, then serve hot.
