Chocolate Pound Cake

The richness and buttery flavor of pound cake takes on a whole new dimension! Chocolate Pound Cake has the moist tender texture of its namesake cake with the deep flavor of cocoa. This is a cake perfect for pairing with strawberries and cream or chocolate ganache or ice cream…basically, whatever your heart desires! Dessert is newly delicious with Chocolate Pound Cake!


• 1 cup all-purpose flour • 1/4 cup cocoa powder • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 5 large eggs, yolks and whites separated • 1 cup butter, unsalted • 1 cup sugar, granulated • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Spray a loaf pan generously with cooking spray.

Step 3

Mix the flour, cocoa powder, and salt together in a bowl.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.

Step 5

In another bowl mix the butter with the sugar until well combined and creamy.

Step 6

Mix in the egg yolks and vanilla until well combined.

Step 7

Add half the dry ingredient mixture and half the egg whites, folding until combined.

Step 8

Add the remaining flour mixture and mix well. Fold in the remaining egg whites with a spatula. Do not over-mix!

Step 9

Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour.

Step 10

Let the cake cool in the loaf pan for about 15 minutes.

Step 11

Run a knife around the sides of the loaf pan to loosen the cake in case it’s stuck and turn it over onto a cooling rack.

Step 12

Turn it upright and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
