It’s an excellent decadent and fruity casserole-style breakfast soaked with sweet cinnamon and vanilla flavors. Baked Apple French Toast is perfect whether your buttery brioche bread, extra sugary cinnamon raisin bread, or classic French bread. You’ll never find a richer or more dessert-like breakfast!
Ingredients• 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling • 3 eggs • 1 cup milk • 1 teaspoon vanilla • 10 slices day-old brioche bread, French bread, or cinnamon raisin bread • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1 tablespoon sugar • 2 tablespoons butter, melted • butter, optional, for serving
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Spread the pie filling in the dish.
In a pie plate, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla.
Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture, soaking them for about 1 minute per slice, turning once.
Arrange 2 rows of the soaked bread on top of the pie filling, overlapping slices slightly.
Mix the cinnamon and sugar together.
Brush the bread with the melted butter.
Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture onto the bread. If you're making ahead, refrigerate now.
Bake the dish uncovered until lightly browned, about 30-35 minutes.
Serve fruit side up with butter.
