Easy Honey Garlic Chicken

Sticky and Easy Honey Garlic Chicken made simple, with the most amazing and addictive 5-ingredient honey garlic!


• 6 chicken thighs, bone in or out, with or without skin • Salt and pepper, to season • 2 teaspoons garlic powder, to season • 6 cloves garlic, crushed • 1/3 cup honey • 1/4 cup water (or chicken broth) • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar, or any white vinegar) • 1 tablespoon soy sauce • Optional - green onions and/or sesame seeds

Editor's Notes:

For oven-baked, bone-in thighs: Preheat oven at 400°F or 200°C. Sear chicken in an ovenproof skillet or pan, skin side down first for 3 minutes. Flip and sear for a further 3 minutes until browned each side. Then bake in the oven for a further 20-25 minutes, until completely cooked through and no longer pink inside. Continue directions from the sauce, onwards.


Step 1

Season your chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cover the chicken thighs with butcher paper.

Step 2

Heat a pan or skillet over medium-high heat on your stovetop; Lightly sear your chicken thigh fillets or breast fillets on both sides until golden and cooked through.

Step 3

If you are using bone-in thighs: Reduce your heat after searing on both sides, cover the skillet with a lid, flip the chicken every 5 minutes to ensure it is cooked evenly. Continue cooking until the chicken is cooked through reaching an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Drain 3/4ths of the excess oil from the pan, leaving the rest to ensure properly moist, and delicious chicken.

Step 4

Now that the chicken is done, we will move on to our sauce: First, we will arrange the chicken skin-side up in the pan (if applicable); place the crushed garlic cloves between the chicken and fry for around 30 seconds. Gently pour in your honey, water, vinegar, and soy sauce. Increase heat to medium-high, continue to cook until the sauce reduces and becomes slightly thick, you can expect this to take 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 5

Garnish your honey garlic chicken with chopped green onions or sesame seeds and serve over your choice of sides. Enjoy!
